Congratulations to Leisa, a key member of our team. Leisa has been invited to join the ‘Who’s Challenging Who’ research team. The project is aimed at improving ‘challenging behaviour’ services for people with a learning disability and the second stage of the study will be to examine the impact of a training programme aimed at developing staff attitudes and increasing empathy instead of teaching behaviour modification skills. The study is headed by Professor Richard Hasting who is a leading name in the field of learning disability.
The training package will be co-delivered with a trainer who has a learning disability and, once evaluated, it is hoped that the training will eventually be rolled out nationally. Leisa will still be available to deliver training with harm-ed during this time!
